JEFFREY BAHR, Ph.D.
Jeff founded Argen in 2011 to offer materials testing services and expertise from a scientifically rigorous viewpoint after spending the earlier part of his career in materials and process development roles. He previously held senior technical and management positions in polymer and nanomaterial product development. He has extensive experience in materials characterization via thermal and spectroscopic techniques, mechanical properties of polymers, and chemical process development. He is a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and NACE. Jeff holds a B.S. in chemistry from Texas A&M University, Ph.D. in chemistry from Arizona State University, and took two years postdoctoral training at Rice University with Professors James Tour and Richard Smalley.
DAVID GERRARD, Ph.D.
Dave has extensive industrial experience involving polymers and elastomers. He has held senior technical, research, new product development, and engineering management positions at The Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Baker Hughes, The Flexitallic Group, and CDI Energy Products. He has broad technical expertise in the areas of experimental mechanics, fatigue and fracture, rubber friction and wear, and enviro chemical aspects to polymer performance in downhole applications. Dave holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D. in Polymer Engineering from The University of Akron. He has authored 17 U.S Patents and 16 Publications and Papers. He is an active supporter and past Chair of The Energy Polymer Group.
XIAODONG HU, Ph.D.
Xiaodong is primarily responsible for polymer characterization and thermal analysis at Argen. He previously held technical roles at a division of Continental Carbon, Carbon Nanotechnologies Inc., Rohm and Haas, and CIBA Vision. His expertise encompasses polymer chemistry, characterization, structure-property relationships, plastics/rubbers/fibers, polymer processing, and nanomaterials. Xiaodong is a Six Sigma Green Belt and holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Kyle has decades of experience in metallurgical failure analysis, microstructural evaluations, heat treating, welding, and other technical areas. Kyle served for many years as a metallurgist, chemist, and quality manager at An-Tech Laboratories Inc. Prior to An-Tech he was a metallurgist and process engineer at US Steel. He is Nuclear Quality Assurance certified (NQA-1 through Bechtel) and quality certified (ASQ CQA #14142). Kyle holds a B.S. in Engineering Technology, Welding, Metallurgy Foundry Option from Texas A&M University. He is an active member of the American Society of Metals International, the American Welding Society, the American Quality Society, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Quality and Project Manager
Teri is one of the longest tenured members of the Argen team. Teri typically manages larger scope multi-faceted projects, where she is adept at keeping complicated test matrices on track. She previously held technical roles at Trans Ionics Corporation where she developed solid state ion transport membranes and polymeric membranes for pervaporation and liquid-liquid extraction. There she worked with tools such as gas chromatography, FTIR, and impedance spectroscopy to characterize these materials. She was also previously with SeprOx Corporation where she worked to synthesize oxygen conducting electrolyte materials and optimize processing parameters for these materials. Teri graduated with Honors from the University of Houston with a B.S. in chemistry.
Neerav Verma, Ph.D.
Neerav is a materials and welding engineer with extensive experience in steel process metallurgy, failure analysis, forging and welding processes and quality of manufacturing. His previous technical roles also involved non-metallic materials such as RTP, FRP, and elastomers. He has broad experience in optical and electron microscopy, including quantitative image analysis approaches. Neerav was mostly recently with ExxonMobil upstream operations, most recently responsible for TMCP plate/pipe mill qualification for sour service projects. He has also been involved in the development of high strain welding technologies, sour service welding techniques, and high manganese steel for upstream applications among other responsibilities. He holds a Bachelor of Technology from IIT Kanpur, and M.S. and Ph.D. in materials science from Carnegie Mellon University.
Chris is responsible for the quality and safety aspects of operations at our laboratories. Chris previously held technical and customer relationship roles at ChemTrade Solutions, M-I SWACO, Lonza, and Nalco Oilfield Chemicals. He has extensive experience in oilfield chemicals in general, and specifically sour gas and corrosion focused chemicals and laboratory operations. Chris holds a Bachelor’s in chemistry from University of Houston.
