Mechanical Testing

Tensile and Bend Testing

Uniaxial tensile testing is one of the most common mechanical tests for metallic materials in relation to quality control, material integrity, materials selection, and failure analysis. Argen is equipped to machine standard and non-standard test specimens from a wide variety of metallic materials from carbon steels to high Nickel Corrosion Resistant Alloys. Testing is performed on statistical process controlled, calibrated instrumentation to provide accurate and reliable results. Testing can be performed at ambient and non-ambient temperatures.

  • Round (threaded and button, .252”, .350”, .505” etc.), flat, reduced section, through thickness
  • Standard, reduced size, and custom profiles
  • Three load frames (56 kip (250 kN), 135 kip (600 kN), 220 kip (1,000 kN))
  • Testing to 1,200 °C (2,200 °F)
  • Contacting and non-contact video strain measurement capability
  • Full-field strain measurement with Digital Image Correlation (DIC)
  • Bend testing for weld qualifications
